5 Adjustments You Need to Make to Protect Your Facebook Account

When we finally have some time to access our Facebook account, the last thing we may think about is using that time to protect our Facebook account. We would rather see what our friends are up to or visit our favorite profiles, but trust me, there are some adjustments you should consider making, like the following five. Making these changes will make your Facebook experience safer and less stressful.

1. Login Alerts

A feature that has been waiting for us all this time in Facebook in Login Alerts. As the name of the features states, you will get an alert every time someone (or you at times) logs into your Facebook account from an unknown computer. Facebook will inform you with details of when and where the session was made. This is a great feature to activate, especially if you suspect that someone may have been accessing your account. To enable this feature, you just need to go to “Settings -> Security” and Login Alerts will be the first feature you will see.

2. Login Approvals

Below Login Alert, you will see the Login Approvals feature. This feature will make Facebook ask you for a code every time you start a session from a different browser than the one you regularly use or haven’t used before. If you want more security in your Facebook account, this is a great feature to activate.

3. Trusted Contacts

Are you having problems getting into your Facebook account? Who hasn’t, right? With Trusted Contacts, you can add a friend or family member you have on Facebook to help you whenever you are having trouble getting into your account. These trusted people will have some security codes that they should give you when you are having trouble accessing your account. Remember, choose wisely.

4. Legacy Contact

No one likes talking about the day when they will leave this earth, but it is something that needs attention. Legacy Contact is a feature that will let that one person handle your Facebook account once you have parted. You can assign one person that will have access to your account and that way you know your content is in good hands. This feature (like all the ones mentioned) can be found in security settings.

5. Block Invitations

Count four sections down and you will see Block app invites and Block event invites. As long as you in the Blocking section, you can also add a “friend” to the restricted list where they will only be able to see things you publish to the public or on a mutual friend’s timeline. Remember, you can also block pages, apps, and annoying users.
